Lower-cost surgical and pain management care

Beginning Jan. 1, 2027, an alternative surgery benefit will be available for eligible HealthSelect of Texas^® and Consumer Directed HealthSelect^SM medical plan participants in Texas.  
 
HealthSelect Care Bundles by Lantern will offer surgical services through a designated network of providers, including orthopedic, joint, spine and pain management procedures covered under the HealthSelect^SM medical plans. 

If your primary care provider refers you to a surgical provider, Lantern may be able to offer you a lower-cost surgery option. Consumer Directed HealthSelect participants do not need a referral.

Eligible participants enrolled in the HealthSelect of Texas medical plan will have no out-of-pocket cost for the services received from Lantern providers. Eligible participants enrolled in the Consumer Directed HealthSelect medical plan must first meet their annual deductible before Lantern services are covered at no additional out-of-pocket cost.

To find out if your specific surgery or procedure will be offered through HealthSelect Care Bundles, call Lantern at (855) 210-5284 Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-11 p.m. CT, excluding holidays. Lantern can also help you locate a participating provider. Depending on the location, you might still save money even if you have to travel to the Lantern provider.
